Candy you might remember as a kid

I don't know if you noticed the new ad on the left side of this blog that reads "Candy you ate as a kid!" - it's a website called Old Time Candy, where you can check out different candies by decades. It makes a great nostalgic gift for someone's birthday, or just to find hard-to-find candy.

Recently, I noticed that CVS Drugstore on the corner of US78 and Rockdale Circle in Snellville had an assortment of nostalgia candy. I looked them over, but didn't remember the particular candies from my childhood, so I was only tempted by curiosity, looked them over, and walked away.

This morning, I went to CVS to get some Advil. I seem to have tendonitis (probably from typing too much?!? lol) and what did I see by the checkout, but those candies .... now at 75% off. Apparently the nostalgia-candy trip didn't do well in CVS stores.

They have Necco candies like Sky Bar and chocolate wafers, Beeman's Gum, Black Jack Gum, Clark Bars and more.

Well, to my kids, candy is candy, so I went ahead and bought some for their Christmas stockings. Candy can turn into a fairly big expense, since I buy for 4 kids.

The Sky Bar intrigued me, so I bought an extra one of those for myself. Wow, it's good! There are 4 sections of this candy "bar," but it's like having 4 pieces of candy with filling. Each piece of the bar has a different filling - caramel, vanilla, peanut, and fudge.

I didn't buy a Clark Bar, because I think I remember that from the '70's. I think it tastes a lot like a Butterfinger. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The Beeman gum is wintergreen and holds its flavor really well. I would definitely buy this one again.

Black Jack is licorice flavored. Just opened the pack, smelled it, and nope - won't be eating that one. I've never been a licorce fan.

So if you want to try any of these, you should get over to CVS in Snellville right away. I would expect that when these are gone, they won't be back. It's clearance. But it's good to know if you try these and really like one of them, you can order them from Old Time Candy later.
